Description

3x Founder, Angel and Private Equity Investor

Most Interested In

I look for founders that are tackling huge markets that have real pain points. My areas of focus: consumer-facing tech, subscription businesses, marketplaces, social / digital content.

Not Interested In

I was in the recruiting space for many years and don't have interest in investing there right now.

Rick Marini is a Co-Founder and serves as Managing Partner at Dragonfly Ventures. He serves as Managing Partner at Protocol Ventures. He serves as Investor of BirdEye. He serves as General Manager, Digital Innovation at Hearst. He founded Talk.co and served as its Chief Executive Officer. He is a serial entrepreneur and pioneer in social media with more than a decade of experience in the consumer Internet space. Previously, he founded and served as Chief Executive Officer of SuperFan. SuperFan was a social entertainment platform that developed social games and Facebook apps. SuperFan's clients included CBS, MTV, Universal Music, Warner Music, Sony, etc. Previously, he co-founded and served as Chief Strategist of Tickle. Tickle was one of the largest social media sites on the Internet and the first site to successfully leverage viral marketing through personality tests, photo-sharing and matchmaking products. Under his leadership, Tickle operated as a profitable company with close to $40 million of annual revenue. He served on the Board of Directors of Tickle until 2004 when Tickle was successfully acquired by Monster Worldwide for over $100 million. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the University of New Hampshire, magna cum laude, and a MBA from Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration. How to connect with Angel Investors in the Online Social industry?

In the Online Social industry, angel investors such as Chris Sacca, Naval Ravikant, and Reid Hoffman are significant figures. These investors focus on startups offering innovative solutions in social networking, online communities, and social media platforms. Chris Sacca, founder of Lowercase Capital, invests in online social startups that leverage technology to create engaging and scalable social platforms. Naval Ravikant, co-founder of AngelList, looks for companies that provide unique and impactful social networking solutions. Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn, seeks out startups with strong user engagement and scalable social technologies. To connect with these investors, attend social media conferences, tech expos, and networking events such as Social Media Week, TechCrunch Disrupt, and Web Summit. Utilize platforms like AngelList and LinkedIn to identify and reach out to potential investors. When pitching, emphasize how your online social solution addresses key challenges, such as improving user experience, enhancing community engagement, or providing new social features. Highlight any traction you’ve gained, such as user growth, positive feedback from users, or partnerships with tech companies. Building relationships through initial informal meetings or discussions at industry panels can help establish trust with these investors. Demonstrating the impact of your technology through case studies or user testimonials can also add credibility. Personalize your outreach by referencing the investor’s previous investments and explaining how your venture aligns with their interests. Demonstrating a sustainable business model with clear revenue streams, such as in-app purchases, subscription fees, or advertising, will further strengthen your pitch. Leveraging endorsements or case studies from social media experts can also enhance your credibility.
